FORT HOOD, Texas - U.S. Army Pvt. Gregory Morales went missing in August 2019 and his remains were found near the end of June.

Now, his family is asking for the Army to be held accountability in his disappearance and his death.

In a petition posted online, the family said it wants Morales to be reinstated so he can have a military funeral. Morales was labeled AWOL after his disappearance.

They also said an investigation needs to be launched into the case.

"We also want the Killeen and Fort Hood police department to be investigated for their lack of investigation skills over the years," the family said in the Change.org post.

As of 5 p.m., Monday, the petition has nearly 12,500 signatures.
